More Chinese Residency Permits Issued to Foreigners Living in China

crownThe head of the Ministry of Public Security Bureau of Exit and Entry Zheng Baigang said that more Chinese permanent residency permits were granted in 2012 than in the previous years, up more than 83 percent from 2011.

For those who received residency permits were family members of people working in China, executives, professors and other professionals. Most of those who applied used to live in Japan, Canada, the United States, Germany and Australia, while other came for big cities such as Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou.

The principle of the green card regulation in China was to attract more foreign talent as part of their effort to promote economic and social development while enhancing international communication. Applicants that have higher educational background and business experience are the ones most likely to get permits. A permit could provide privileges and more convenience such as social insurance, reduced work restrictions and reduce entry exit troubles at checkpoints.
